There will be more news to come next year, and we cannot wait to introduce you to the team behind this new experience! The Last of Us on HBOįrom the onset, our original vision for The Last of Us’ story was cinematic and character driven, and HBO enthusiastically continued the spirit of that same vision to bring this story to TV screens worldwide. We aim to make our newest entry into multiplayer inviting to new players while still a thrilling challenge for more of our seasoned fans. We’re growing our studio significantly to ensure we build this full-scale, standalone game, with its massive scope and immense world, in a way that fans have come to expect from The Last of Us and Naughty Dog. We’re thrilled to share a piece of concept art from our upcoming multiplayer experience, which is an extremely ambitious undertaking. However, we can finally announce that we’re creating something much larger than a mode. Since The Last of Us Factions’ release almost a decade ago, dedicated players have been vocal about an expansion upon that offering. It’s no secret that many of you are not only drawn to The Last of Us’ stories but also the game’s original Factions multiplayer. With that opportunity in mind, let’s talk about the immense future of The Last of Us. Knowing the support we have, our studio continues to see exciting, new avenues to introduce curious audiences and galvanize fans. We’re happy to share that The Last of Us Part II has sold through more than 10 million copies globally, as of this Spring. Many of you have expressed how strongly The Last of Us series resonates with you, and we’re humbled by the community’s outpouring of passion and excitement towards the series’ growing and evolving world and characters. Them all releasing together could be a good compromise if GOW got delayed to Q1 2023 – But that's just speculation on my end for the moment.īut I think the overall goal here is to drum up hype for the HBO show, so we'll see what happens – And to be honest, Q3/Q4 2022 for Sony looks a little lackluster at the moment.Whether you’re here following our Summer Games Fest announcements or just catching up on the latest news from the studio, we’re excited to share what’s in store for the future of The Last of Us. With TLOU2 MP and TLOU 2 directors cut – I've heard they are coming too – But I don't know exactly when/how. Heard from multiple people now that the TLOU remake is nearly finished and could release during the latter half of 2022□ /ZxmNU7zS9k Time will tell so stay tuned for more details – and a potential reveal – in the coming months. In past job ads, Naughty Dog has spoken about bringing the “same level of ambition and quality of our signature, story-driven games to this unique multiplayer project.” So it’s very much possible that the title serves as a platform to incorporate stories from both games in the series (which makes sense if The Last of Us Part 2 Director’s Cut turns out to be real). It’s possible that the multiplayer project could be a free-to-play title that launches alongside the remake. Co-president Neil Druckmann’s statement on “multiple projects” being in the works does give some credence to their existence though. As such, Henderson noted that The Last of Us Part 2’s multiplayer and its Director’s Cut are inbound but when and how is still unknown. It seems the studio’s new multiplayer project – a standalone title which may be the equivalent of Factions for The Last of Us Part 2 – will also be coming this year. This was followed by a GIF satirically analyzing a clip from Sony’s CES 2022 show which featured Ellie and Joel in the background on stage. In a recent tweet, insider Tom Henderson said he heard from “multiple people” that the remake is “nearly finished and could release during the latter half of 2022.” Reportedly more than a simple visual upgrade, it apparently won’t be long before players get their hands on the same. Rumors have circulated about Naughty Dog’s next big project, which is apparently a remake of The Last of Us for PS5.
